James Gresham (1815-1854) and his wife Sarah Ashford (1824-1893) were born in Sumpter and Choctaw counties, Alabama, respectively. They moved to Grimes County, Texas, sometime between 1845 and 1855 and had six children. James was a school teacher and farmer. Sarah later married George V. Sawyer, in 1868. The Gresham children lived their adult lives in Llano and Blanco counties, Texas. From the description of Gresham, James, family papers, 1842-1913 1962-1984....
